SNAP Assistance Program

For the most current information about accepting SNAP in a farmers market or other farm business, please visit: https://farmersmarketcoalition.org/programs/freesnapebt/
Picture
The goal of the project which took place in 2012 and 2013 was to enhance and improve the marketing efforts of the region’s open-air farmers markets while increasing access for low-income citizens who are eligible to receive Federal nutrition assistance. By providing this program we believe we supported the increased access to nutritious, fresh and locally-produced food for diverse communities and increased sales volume for producers that market directly to consumers.

Ongoing program elements still available from Capital RC&D:
  • Capital RC&D continues to support EBT swipe card machine use for the benefit of both vendors and customer by providing written support materials targeting farmers markets.
  • A “toolkit” to assist markets with their advertising and outreach and a “toolkit” for consumer education are available from Capita RC&D.
