We also hold quarterly calls and share events and resources. Signing up for the directory gives you access.
NEMA states include:
  • Virginia
  • West Virginia
  • Maryland
  • Washington D.C.
  • Delaware
  • Pennsylvania
  • New Jersey
  • New York
  • Connecticut
  • Rhode Island
  • Massachusetts
  • Vermont
  • New Hampshire
  • Maine
Our purpose is to collaborate across political and geographic borders to enhance the science, adoption and efficacy of agroforestry systems through education, research and outreach to natural resource professionals, technical assistance providers, producers and landowners.

NEMA’s Goals:
  • Identify key barriers, gaps and opportunities for enhancing the adoption of tree and shrub based perennial agricultural systems in the region
  • Collaborate on regional trainings, technical resource development and research efforts for resolving core issues identified
  • Establish a region wide network of technical service providers, producers and landowners to collaborate, share and enhance the communication on agroforestry developments and resource opportunities
  • Inspire innovation in perennial tree/shrub based agricultural systems through regional networking and resource sharing
  • Enhance the economic diversity and potential for land-based economies through tree and shrub based perennial agriculture
  • Work across social, economic, technological and environmental disciplines for increasing awareness and application of agroforestry as a multifunctional approach towards sustainability in agriculture and natural resource management
